Full-Time Welder / Fabricator Job
Location: LUKIM METAL – Newmarket, ON
Pay: $25–$35/hr + Overtime | 40–44 hrs/week
Schedule: Monday to Friday | In-shop work only
What You’ll Do
- Weld and fabricate parts using MIG and TIG (steel, stainless, aluminum)
- Read and follow shop drawings to build custom components
- Use hand tools and machinery to cut, fit, and assemble parts
- Inspect your own work for fit, finish, and quality
- Keep your station clean, organized, and safe
- Occasionally operate a forklift (training provided if needed)
What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years TIG welding experience (required)
- 2+ years sheet metal experience (required)
- 3+ years custom fabrication (preferred)
- Able to read blueprints and work independently
- Reliable and committed to showing up on time and getting the job done

Full-Time Mechanical Technologist / Project Coordinator Job
Location: LUKIM METAL – Newmarket, ON
Pay: $40,000–$60,000/year + Bonus + Overtime
Schedule: Monday to Friday | In-office & occasional site visits
What You’ll Do
- Manage client projects from first call to final delivery
- Use SolidWorks (or similar) to create drawings and technical files (DWG, STEP, BOM, etc.)
- Prepare accurate estimates and quotes based on drawings and site info
- Coordinate with fabricators and shop staff to keep projects on track
- Conduct site visits for measurements and planning
- Support sales and business development by identifying project leads and trends
What We’re Looking For
- 2+ years using SolidWorks or other CAD software
- Strong communication and organization skills
- Understanding of fabrication, mechanics, or shop workflows
- Experience quoting or estimating metal projects (an asset)
- Driver’s license and willingness to visit job sites
- Someone comfortable handling multiple projects and talking to clients

What You Should Know Before Applying
What kind of metal projects does Lukim Metal work on?
We specialize in custom architectural and structural metalwork for commercial and high-end residential projects. This includes decorative wall panels, fireplace surrounds, feature stairs, guardrails, cladding, and custom installations. Our work is precision-based and design-driven, not repetitive production. If you’re looking for hands-on, creative builds that challenge your skills, this is the kind of shop for you.
Where is the shop located, and do I need to commute daily?
Our shop is located at 1111 Gorham Street, Newmarket, ON, and all roles are in-person, Monday to Friday. We require candidates to have reliable transportation to and from the shop. While we sometimes work on-site at client locations, your main base will be the Newmarket shop. We do not currently offer remote or hybrid options.
What types of materials and processes will I work with?
We work with a range of metals, including mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and brass. Our fabrication process includes laser cutting, bending, MIG and TIG welding, polishing, forming, finishing, assembling, and installing. If you join us, you’ll get exposure to the full cycle, from raw materials to final on-site installation.
What kind of tools and equipment are used in the shop?
Our shop is well-equipped with professional tools and machines. This includes MIG and TIG welding stations, press brakes, shears, drill presses, and laser cutting systems. For design and engineering roles, we use SolidWorks and CAD tools to produce detailed shop drawings and BOMs. All of our tools are maintained regularly, and we expect our team to work safely and responsibly at all times.
Do I need certifications to apply?
Certifications are helpful but not mandatory. For welding roles, experience and quality of work matter more than paper. That said, forklift licenses or CAD certifications are a plus. For technical or coordinator roles, SolidWorks proficiency is important, and a background in mechanical design or product development is highly valued.
Is this a long-term job or short-term contract?
All open positions at Lukim Metal are full-time and permanent. We’re not looking to fill short-term contracts, but we want people who want to grow with us. Many of our team members have been with us for years. We provide stable work, consistent hours, and a supportive environment focused on craftsmanship and professionalism.
What’s the work environment like?
You’ll be part of a small, skilled team that takes pride in its work. Our shop is organized, clean, and built for custom work, not mass production. We move fast but pay attention to detail. Everyone is expected to take ownership of their work and communicate clearly. The environment is respectful, focused, and hands-on.

Our shop is based in Newmarket, Ontario, but our projects take us across the Greater Toronto Area, including Toronto, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill, Mississauga, Barrie, Aurora, Brampton, and surrounding cities. Most fabrication is done in-house, but some roles may involve occasional site visits or installations throughout the GTA.
